Overall Comments
Really pleased to see this first finished film. A fitting piece of work that does justice to your subject.
Assessment potential
Assignment 2 and 4 Assessment potential
I understand your aim is to go for the Photography/Creative Arts* Degree and that you plan to submit your work for assessment at the end of this course. From the work you have shown in this assignment, providing you commit yourself to the course, I believe you have the potential to pass at assessment. In order to meet all the assessment criteria, there are certain areas you will need to focus on, which I will outline in my feedback.

Notes from, and in addition to, our Skype tutorial –
I think this is very successful film.
One tiny comment, the second text panel seemed to move a tiny bit too fast
Poignant, looking backwards, then to the present, and ends looking to the future. This is a rare skill to encompass the sweep of someone’s life, the arc of history and some images that resonate within something that looks effortless. (We know that its not!)
No narrator’s voice shows you got the story from quotes – shows your evident skill at interviewing.
How you have got their interviews to speak so well of their issues also points to your copious research and behind-the-scenes legwork.
I really enjoyed the direct look at us at the end, from being a historical document it suddenly morphs into a very personal message that can transcend space and time.
The film works!

As before, the images (especially the new ones) are of good quality, and your editing illustrates a sound understanding of storytelling. There is an affinity and warmth between you and subjects that translates to us despite language and cultural differences.

Pointers for the next assignment / assessment
Check through your research notes, that you have sent all that you want to feedback, if you split it into sections of your writing with bibliographies for each.
Send me this at the beginning of September and we’ll look at Skyping between 5 Sept and 11 Sept.
